We expect to keep this timeline updated every few days with significant, modern reports and news stories.

April 30th, 2020 - A new drug, called Remdesivir is being tested and hopes are beginning to rise upon its positive results

April 29th, 2020 - France's largest soccer league has become the first in all of Europe to call off its entire season

April 28th, 2020 - US President Trump signs an official order that meat factories will stay open, despite fear from the workers of contracting the virus

April 27th, 2020 - New Zealand begins to reopen and says that they have completely eliminated the virus and its spread

April 26th, 2020 - White House response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx announces that Americans should expect restrictions to be in place for several more months

April 25th, 2020 - Certain US States are taking steps to reopen, but most continue their restrictions due to the lack of abundant testing

April 24th, 2020 - WHO announces that care homes could account for up to 50% of European deaths by COVID-19

April 23rd, 2020 - Two house cats in NY test positive, becoming the first pets to contract the virus

April 22nd, 2020 - Officials announce that COVID-19 may have come to the US earlier than March with the discovery of two deaths in CA in February

April 20th, 2020 - Germany begins to reopen shops and other "non-essential" businesses, though social distancing is still in order until the end of April

April 18th, 2020 - Scientists announce that the US is months away from any kind of normalcy and that social distancing is still vital


April 17th, 2020 - Governors in Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Idaho are hoping to ease stay-at-home restrictions despite limited testing supplies

April 16th, 2020 - The SAT and ACT announces that they will begin to develop a test that students can take at home

April 15th, 2020 - Scientists in the US are now investigating  if COVID-19 came from a laboratory in Wuhan, rather than a market as previously thought. 

April 14th, 2020 - US President Donald Trump withholds World Health Organization funds in belief that they are not effectively handling the spread

April 12th, 2020 - Epidemiologists praise states on the West Coast for putting stay-at-home orders into place early, as the number of cases are much less

April 11th, 2020 - The United States surpasses all other countries, and now holds the highest number of deaths due to COVID-19

April 9th, 2020 - Daily death tolls in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania peak, but scientists are saying that the curve is beginning to flatten

April 7th, 2020 - Life in Wuhan, China slowly begins to return to normal as their 73-day lockdown is alleviated

April 5th, 2020 - UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is hospitalized, becoming the first world leader to be sickened by the novel Coronavirus

April 4th, 2020 - Though the death toll is still climbing, Italy proposes letting those with the right antibodies to fight off the virus  return to work

April 2nd. 2020 - ​The number of confirmed worldwide cases hits 1,000,000

​March 31st, 2020 -  The CDC suggests using face coverings in public with the new knowledge that almost 25% of cases are "silent" (asymptomatic)

March 30th, 2020 - Over 265 Million Americans are currently being asked to stay home to prevent the spread of COVID-19

March 28th, 2020 - The CDC issues a domestic travel restriction for the states of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut

March 27th, 2020 - US President Donald Trump signs a $2 Trillion stimulus bill giving financial compensation to temporarily unemployed Americans

March 26th, 2020 - The United States holds the highest number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 (80,000+ confirmed & 1,000+ deaths)

March 24th, 2020 - The 2020 Tokyo Olympics are postponed until Summer 2021 and India announces a 21-day national lockdown

March 23rd, 2020 - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson imposes a national lockdown

March 21st, 2020 - American companies begin to mass produce medical supplies amid shortages

March 19th, 2020 - The first day since the start of the outbreak that China reported 0 new cases in a single day

March 17th, 2020 - France declares a nationwide lockdown and the EU stops international travel for at least 30 days

March 15th, 2020 - The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends avoidance of gatherings of 50+ people

Marth 13th, 2020 - US President Donald Trump declares a state of national emergency

March 11th, 2020 - The World Health Organization (WHO) label the novel Coronavirus as a pandemic

March 3rd, 2020 - United States officials approve widespread testing as the virus has infected 90,000 people worldwide and killed 3,000

February 29th, 2020 - The United States reports its first death caused by Coronavirus and begins to announce more extensive travel restrictions

February 28th, 2020 - The number of cases in Europe spikes AND Sub-Saharan Africa reports its first COVID-19 case in Nigeria

February 26th, 2020 - The first COVID-19 case in Latin America appears in São Paulo, Brazil

February 24th, 2020 - US President Donald Trump requests $1.25 Billion dollars from Congress for Coronavirus measures

February 23rd, 2020 - Italy sees a massive growth in cases and begins to quarantine its towns

February 19th, 2020 - Two cases of COVID-19 are reported in Iran 

February 17th, 2020 - Chinese officials draft legislation to prevent consumption of wildlife, which is the probable cause of the outbreak

February 14th, 2020 - The first European death by COVID-19 is reported in France

February 11th, 2020 - The disease is named COVID-19

February 2nd, 2020 - The first death caused by Coronavirus outside of China occurs in the Philippines

January 31st, 2020 - US President Donald Trump declares that all travel to and from China is cut off

January 30th, 2020 - The WHO declares a global health emergency

January 21st, 2020 - The first confirmed case of Coronavirus in the United States appears in Washington State

January 20th, 2020 - The first confirmed cases of Coronavirus in other parts of the world are documented (Japan, South Korea, & Thailand)

​January 11th, 2020 - China reports its first death due to Coronavirus

December 31, 2019 - Healthcare facilities in Wuhan, China discover a new virus that infected dozens of people across Asia
